The longest marathon playing beach touch rugby is 34 hours 6 seconds, and was achieved by Sandbaggers Rugby Club (all UK) in Poole, Dorset, UK, on 20 May 2022.
Andrew Vaughton, one of the participants, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2021. He and his beach rugby team decided to take on this record challenge to raise money for motor neurone disease charities. Overall, the attempt raised a reported £100,000+ for the charities and won Dorset Hero Award for 'Best Fundraising'.
