Edinburgh Academy pupils Ninian Jamieson Finlay (1858-1936) and Charles Reid (1864-1909) were both 17yr 36days old when they played for Scotland v. England in 1875 and 1881 respectively. However, as Finlay had one less leap year in his lifetime up to his first cap, the outright record must be credited to him. Semi Taupeaafe played in a Test for Tonga against Western Samoa in 1989, aged 16.
