A team of 60 British police officers pulled a Boeing 747-400 weighing 205 tonnes (498,244 lbs) over a 100-m (328-ft) course in 53.33 sec at London Heathrow Airport, UK on 27 September 2000.
This charity jumbo pull in aid of the Royal Ulster Constabulary's (RUC) Benevolent Fund was endorsed at the highest level: Sir Ronnie Flanagan, the force's Chief Constable, donned a t-shirt and pulled his 3.4 (7,500 lb.) tonne share of the airliner. Thirty RUC officers were joined for the long haul by colleagues from the London Metropolitan and City of London (15 from each), who had trained for the event by pulling horse-boxes and other vehicles in London's Hyde Park. The event, which was the brainchild of the RUC's No 4 Mobile Support Unit, raised £15,000 (US$22,000).
